New User Onboarding

Designed the visual identity and layout for a multi-email onboarding series delivered to millions of new Roku account holders annually. Collaborating with lifecycle marketers and a copywriter, I shaped the provided copy and key art with existing Roku brand assets into polished email designs that guided new users through the platform—including navigating the OS, discovering content, browsing the Roku Channel, using voice search, and introducing the Roku mobile app.

Originally overhauled in 2023 with a new communication strategy, the layouts of the emails went through several iterations over time and were most recently revised following a Roku brand refresh in 2025.

The series also included template localizations for Canada, Mexico, Latin America, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

 
 

 
 

Launch Email
(2022)

WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story

 

Designed and animated the hero GIF for the launch email of Roku's original film, WEIRD: The Al Yankovic Story, sent to millions of Roku users across all marketable regions.

Starting from provided movie key art, I extracted and masked individual elements in Photoshop, sourced complementary stock footage, and composited everything in After Effects. Keyframed details include Al's accordion in motion, distant explosions, and palm trees swaying in the blast.

The final animation was exported from After Effects and converted to GIF in Photoshop.

 
 
 

 
 

Subscription Winback
(2023)

[Partner] on The Roku Channel

 

Designed winback emails targeting lapsed subscribers of premium partners on The Roku Channel, including AMC+, BET+, discovery+, HBO Max, MGM+, Paramount+, and STARZ.

Each email was built around partner-provided hero imagery and brand colors, while a standard The Roku Channel masthead and footer provided consistent framing across the series.

These emails also featured dynamic content recommendations (mockups populated for context).
